About me Hi there! I’m Wookiee, and I’ve been searching for my forever home since March 2024. I’m a high-drive, motivated pup who’s ready to be someone’s loyal adventure buddy—and a total couch potato when the walk is over. My favorite thing in the world is going on walks, but once I’ve had my exercise, I’m all about lounging and relaxing by your side. I’ve been thriving in my foster home with consistent obedience training and have picked up a bunch of skills! I know all my basic commands—sit, stay, down, touch, and come—and I’ve nearly mastered loose leash walking. I even know how to use the dog door like a pro. I’ve done well with other dogs after slow introductions and would do best in a home without small animals. I’d also thrive with older kids (12+) who understand my style and can give me space when I need it. After more than a year of waiting, I’m ready to finally find my person. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal, and affectionate companion with just the right mix of energy and chill, I might be the one for you.
04/25/2025 OBSERVATION FROM TRAINING WEEK 4: Wookie also had a bit of a rough start but bounced back rather quickly. Once we started recall he found his new favorite game of running back and forth for the treats to whoever called him. He did well with down he just needed a little help doing it without having to follow the treat all the way to the ground. |
04/19/2025 TRAINING CLASS: Wookie also had a bit of a rough start but bounced back rather quickly. Once we started recall he found his new favorite game of running back and forth for the treats to whoever called him. He did well with down he just needed a little help doing it without having to follow the treat all the way to the ground. |
04/16/2025 OBSERVATION FROM TRAINING CLASS WEEK 2: Wookie was significantly better on the leash this week compared to last. He was very happy to work on his say hi and moving on cues. He was also extremely motivated by beef liver treats! |
04/16/2025 OBSERVATION FROM TRAINING CLASS WEEK 3: Wookie killed it with the focus walking after realizing what was being asked. He did struggle a bit with leave it but once it was a firm boundary he did awesome. Wait was another one that as soon as he grasped it he was unstoppable! |
04/04/2025 Observations From Training Session: Wookie was super energetic and food motivated, he was ready to listen to any command given for some treats and scratches in return. He does pull a bit on the leash but starting week 2 we will put a plan in place to help with that! |
01/12/2025 FROM FOSTER: Wookiee continues to do great! . He really is a good, mellow guy. He’s very laid back and spends most of his day lounging around or sunbathing in the yard but does love his daily walks. He’s made lots of progress greeting people without jumping and is eager to please. He’s a great boy |
12/29/2024 FROM FOSTER: Wookiee continues to do well in foster. He has spent some time with our resident dogs and has done very well with all of them (including my small poodle mix). He is kept separate when eating his meals, sleeping, etc. but so far seems to do well and is very nonreactive with most dogs. He’s sweet, affectionate and loves a good belly rub. He’s excitable when first greeting people but then quickly settles down into his laid back self. He is a very good boy, and while he does still need some training, is very eager to please and has tons of potential. |
12/20/2024 From the foster parent: Wookiee has adjusted exceptionally well to his foster home and is thriving in his new environment. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy who takes life in stride and adapts easily to new situations. Fully housebroken and familiar with basic commands, Wookiee is incredibly friendly with everyone he meets. While he isn’t crate trained, he does wonderfully when confined to a separate part of the house using baby gates, showing no signs of separation anxiety. Though he hasn’t spent much time with our resident dogs yet, he has displayed no aggression. With slow and careful introductions, we believe he will do well with other dogs. Wookiee walks nicely on a leash with his soft-pull harness, though he’s intrigued by passing cars and may try to chase them. Overall, he’s a lovable and independent companion who’s ready to bring joy to his future forever home. |
