About me Hi there! I'm Rita — a sweet, gentle 8-year-old Pittie with a heart of gold and a whole lot of love to give. ?? I may be a little extra special, but that just makes me extra awesome. I have something called Megaesophagus, which just means I need to eat sitting upright in my cool Bailey chair, and I need to stay that way for a little bit after meals so my tummy stays happy. I eat 3-4 small meals a day, and I have a special diet — but don't worry, my rescue team has this all figured out and will help my forever family every step of the way! I love people with my whole heart and soul. I'm calm, cuddly, and really just want to hang out and be your best friend. I’d do best in a quiet home — think calm vibes, cozy spaces, and maybe a laid-back doggy sibling or two. I’m not really into chaos or loud environments (so no rowdy pups or tiny humans for me, please). Even though my care routine takes a little more attention, I promise I’m worth every bit of it. My goofy smile, snuggly nature, and loving eyes will tell you everything you need to know. ?? Oh! And my adoption fee includes all the good stuff: I’m spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped — so I'm totally ready to start our life together. | 05/13/2025 Rita was diagnosed in November of 2024 with Megaesophagus at VCA ARECCA. She is currently being medically managed in her foster home and as of March 2025 her condition is stable. She is "currently on Sildenafil and has been recommended to continue her consistency of diet and upright feeding in the Bailey's chair as well as using a donut to keep her head elevated." |

Patient has mild seromucoid nasal discharge, no ocular discharge, normal respiratory rate and effort, no coughing, no sneezing. Mild continued CIRDC symptoms. Would like to extend doxycycline course for 7 additional days and recheck again at the 21d mark. Due to persistent respiratory disease, send plea and place on portal urgent medical. If no improvement or outlet by COB on 10/3/24, then dog may be at risk for humane euthanasia on 10/4/24. Dog may be humanely euthanized earlier if QOL declines. RX: - doxycycline 10mg/kg PO q24h x 8d - enrofloxacin 5mg/kg PO q24h x 8d |
