02/20/2025 FROM FOSTER: My husband and I fostered Andy for 12 days. We both work primarily from home and gave him ~1 hour of leashed walks per day. He is trained with many commands and good behavior: sit, down, shake, he is fully house trained and can be left alone for several hours without any destruction or accidents. Andy is very affectionate and his goal in life is to get your attention which he can do appropriately and also inappropriately. We found that Andy does best in a household willing to set clear and firm boundaries with him that they enforce in a calm and consistent manner daily. He is a very smart dog with high energy and is dependent on his human companions for direction and engagement throughout the day. If you can provide him that, you’ll have the most eager and friendly best friend in no time! |
02/20/2025 FROM FOSTER: While he is definitely high energy, he more so needs a very consistent person to define boundaries and uphold them because he will test those limits often. He seems to understand the boundaries with me and interacts with me well, but he throws puppy-style temper tantrums with my husband. He barks relentlessly at him while he works from home and won’t let him sit on the couch without trying to jump all over him and when my husband tries to tell him “no” he playfully bites his hands and feet and thinks it’s a game. |
02/10/2025 from foster: Andy is doing well! He’s a very high energy boy so we’re working on creating boundaries and some rules with him because he seems to be overly excitable and can be unruly. We’ll take him on a long walk this afternoon which will hopefully help him too. He’s a really sweet boy though! He’s just needs some adjustment time. |

11/29/2024 From Foster: Andy is such a cool, good looking guy who is DOWN to rally. He is motivated the most by interactions with people, gave so many kisses and sought affection often with his tall reach, he liked to just hang out there, fully extended stretching up on you. He has a very short attention span, he will play with a toy for one sec and then go to look out the window the next. Sniffing is his fav but he would also make a really great running mate. I think he could be trained to run next to a bike or longboard as well as he is really good at keeping a nice steady and fast pace. Another doggie playmate to help burn off some energy could also be nice since he doesn't have a strong toy drive. He is a bit restless, still needing more time to decompress, but still a dog that would thrive with a job or regular exercise (more than 2 casual walks a day). He is a very quiet boy, we heard no barks from him even when he was listening to dogs outside barking. He is potty trained however he doesn't seem to have lived in a house before. Upon entry to the backyard he walked right into the pool! But he didn't let it scare him or break his confidence, he just learned from it and kept going. Not skittish at all. He had clearly also never been on a couch as it took him a few tries to get up on it even though he could have jumped right up. Getting into the car was also a small learning curve, he got onto the floor and then the seat. Enjoyed the ride. Confidence building with him getting up onto new things would be a great activity (overall he is not an insecure dog at all so I was a bit surprised). He can pull on leash a bit but responds to correction well. Andy is also a curious counter surfer, and in general likes to check things out while standing on his back legs. He voluntarily took a toy into his crate, I did not get enough time to see how he did with it closed. Overall - Andy is a super duper love bug who will need an active home and someone willing to teach him a couple manners on how to live in one. He does know sit. Would not recommend younger children until he has a little more self control when excited. Very adoptable, sweet boy. |
