I already know how to sit and I'm always eager for a tasty treat. I'm learning to walk nicely on a leash, and I do great with a harness. I'm looking for a loving home where I can get plenty of exercise and continue learning new things. If you adopt me, you'll gain a devoted and affectionate companion who's always ready for fun and cuddles. Not only do you get my unconditional love and a new BFF, it includes my spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and even some cool coupons! Why wait? Come meet me today!

02/19/2025 Approached K9 from back of kennel, easy to leash, remained sitting without being prompted. Pulled hard out of kennel- ignored neighboring, barking dogs. Hard pull to play yard. K9 explored and sniffed around yard - more interested in exploring then attention from handler, K9 did allow handler to pet him without fear, stress or anxiety, he just preferred to run around and explore the yard. K9 would begin to run towards handler when called, but would run past handler, K9 did demonstrate "sit" for treats. Another dog passed the yard and K9 ran towards the fence, very focused on passing dog, tail up and flagging, ears up and forward, brow furrowed- K9 remained quiet until the dog went out of his eyesight, at which point, K9 vocalized heavily for a moment, before returning to exploring yard. Handler then placed modified harness to take K9 for a walk. As predicted, K9 pulled heavily on walk, but was much more manageable with harness. Walk was uneventful until K9 saw another dog being walked and passing by. K9 became fixated on the other dog, even though handler took K9 behind a wall so he could not see the other dog, When K9 could not see the other dog, he began heavily vocalizing, this time to the point it sounded like screaming. After a few moments, K9 calmed and we were able to continue and finish our walk. At the end of the walk, K9 allowed handler to remove modified harness, and walked to his (new) kennel, although the wing was loud and many dogs were barking at him on the way to his kennel, he ignored the barking neighbors and entered the kennel on his own. Allowed for easy leash removal using clip lead that was previously placed as a precaution (although not needed in the end) |
02/18/2025 Out for Purple training. Fairly easy to leash, firm pull. Very environmental in yard. Aside from a few brief moments of soft eye contact w/ furrowed brow, no engagement w/ handlers. Tension running throughout body for duration, constant furrowed brow, no interest in high-value treats (freeze dried chicken), toys, handlers. 2 dogs were walked past fence of yard, several minutes apart. First was loose, soft, brief eye contact then continued on his way. Second was more kinetic, galloping along w/ handler but no overt engagement w/ our dog in yard. In each case, Tank becam utterly fixated, sitff, ears cocked forward, brow still furrowed, full-body flexation, forceful alarm barking, pawing through gate, began trying to grip bars in his mouth a few times. Leash carefully reacquired; dog did not behave in a manner directly threatening to handlers, but was in a very aroused state, handlers opted for caution. Forcefully resisted when attempt made to lead him from fence directly, handler had to walk him away along the fence-line. Walked fairly easily back to kennel but not eager to go back in, actually went in then pushed his way out as handler was trying to remove leash. Not enough interest in treats to follow them in when tossed. Handler had to lead him away from gate w/ mild leash pressure, turn him about, guide him back in. The heightened level of anxiety he seemed to exhibt, along with the escalation that occurred when he caught sight of a dog, his inability to recover and lack of engagement w/ handlers raised concerns for dog's quality of life. |
02/17/2025 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Sit, Tank walks great on harness leash & listens to commands, calms considerably away from shelter |
02/14/2025 Out for Purple training. Dog was fairly easy to leash, firm pull when walking but manageable. Dog was very environmental in yard, sniffing/exploring, tail flagged, brow furrowed, occasional soft-eyed glance/checking w/ handlers. He grew very agitated at the fence facing the parking lot. He took note of a dog being walked in the lot, approx. 50 ft. from yard, he began to pace, tail still flagged & wagging stiffly, alarm-barking/bellowing repetitively. When that dog was walked out of sight, dog shifted his focus & the reactive display to a dog being walked across the street, approx. 100 ft. away. In both instances, the other dogs glanced at him briefly in response to the noise but offered no further engagement, no further prompting to the behaviors that continued after they were no longer in sight. 2nd handler carefully reacquired dog's leash, he did not want to walk directly away from fence but allowed himself to be led along it, eventually turning away and settling. Dog exhibited no reactivity to his very reactive neighbor on his way back to kennel. No issues retrieving leash. Dog showed no interest in treats (freeze dried chicken) at any time during interaction. |
