About me If you’re looking for a calm, low-key companion who’s all about comfort, snacks, and quiet company, I might just be your guy. I am a senior pitbull with an old soul and a heart full of love, and am ready to live the retired life I have always deserved. I have some arthritis in my back legs, but I get around just fine with a little help from daily meds. I'm not into hiking, running, or chaos, and I am definitely not looking for a home with young kids. While I am polite with children, my dream life is all about peace, quiet, and slow mornings on a soft bed. I coexist beautifully with other dogs, but don't rely on canine companions for entertainment. I do not initiate play and would be just as happy being your one and only or joining a household with other chill dogs who respect my space. I do have a charming streak of stubborn sass, but I am probably the calmest dog you’ll ever meet. No barking at the door, no drama with other dogs, and no bouncing off the walls. I love being included, especially when there’s a party, but I do not demand constant attention. I will quietly soak up the love from the middle of the room. I enjoy very short walks, car rides, sunbathing, and sampling all the treats the world has to offer. I am a little curious about swimming and might be open to being a poolside pal with time. But I need a life jacket! I enjoy the occasional tug-o-war with a rope toy or enjoying a chew bone on the patio. I am not a barker, but if you’re withholding snacks or being just a little too slow at dinner time, you might get a soulful serenade. If your idea of the perfect dog is a laid-back best friend who doesn’t need constant activity but still wants to be close to your heart, and your couch, I might be exactly who you need.
08/08/2025 FROM FOSTER: He is doing wonderfully. He is such a sweet, silly guy! I think we are all just over the summer and have a little bit of cabin fever, but he still likes to go outside and rub up against all the ficus hedges during the cooler times of the day. |
07/14/2025 FROM FOSTER: Charlie is doing great! |
06/27/2025 From the foster parent: Charlie is doing great! I think the carprofen has helped a little bit with his arthritis. I also got him some socks that have grippy bottoms because I don’t have a lot of carpet at the house and I think he’s getting around a lot better without worrying about his back feet slipping. He is still not at a point where he is comfortable getting in the pool on his own and I lost a couple of weeks with pool training because we were trying to get the water to be normal but once it warms back up, I will keep trying to get him comfortable with everything. |
05/28/2025 FROM FOSTER: Charlie is doing so great! He’s just a chill little guy and I managed to get a life vest on him and get him into the pool a few times this last weekend. He seemed to enjoy it so we’ll see if he becomes an official swimming dog lol |
03/26/2025 from foster: Charlie is doing amazing! I took him to a fundraising event last weekend and he made me so proud. He handled the crowd of people and multiple dogs like a total champ. Nothing phased him and he was so calm and just as relaxed as could be. He sat patiently and let people pet him and let strange dogs come up to him and he was gentle with everyone. He’s such a solid guy! He has a great head on his shoulders. |
03/15/2025 From the foster parent: Charlie is doing great and has healed wonderfully from his surgery. He is just a happy silly little guy! I’ve been taking him on walks and working with his manners on leash and he’s doing really well! |
02/27/2025 FROM FOSTER: Charlie is doing amazing! All of his incisions from his neuter surgery and having his little bumps removed have been healing nicely and he just got his stitches out yesterday. He has filled out nicely because he loves to eat and his coat is starting to get nice and shiny and soft again. he’s good with other dogs as long as they’re slow in intros. |
02/13/2025 From the foster parent: Charlie is doing great! He is a very cool guy. Very calm and gentle and sweet. He does need a little bit of training because he gets kind of mouthy, not in a bad way. He just plays with his mouth sometimes if that makes sense. So I’m not sure if a home with kids is the best place for him but then again my neighbors kids just came over to my house and he was amazing with them. Once he’s a little bit more healed I am going to start working with him on a leash because he is in need of some serious manners. His food motivated for sure, and loves to be around his people. |
01/30/2025 FROM FOSTER: Charlie is doing fantastic! He is definitely feeling much better and is enjoying life. Charlie is a super chill guy who is loving the soft finer things in life. He enjoys lounging around on dog beds, the couch, and baking in the sun like a baked potato. While his demeanor is extremely calm and relaxed, he does have great energy and has started to play with the other dogs and with toys and bones. He is great with my other dogs and gets along with them very well. I don’t think he needs a house with another dog per se because he loves being with humans more but he would do well in either situation. He doesn’t have a lot of manners on a leash but now that he’s feeling better I’m going to try to start going on little walks with him to get him used to having manners on a leash. He is also not house trained 100% which is some thing we have been working on since he got here and he is getting better about. He is learning sit and has it down pretty well. Speaking of manners, he is a little mouthy at times during play, which is something we are also working on. Nothing of concern I think he’s just figuring out how to be a dog. He absolutely loves being outside in the yard with me and the other dogs. He enjoys, rubbing up against all of the trees and shrubs in the yard. I think it feels good against his skin. He’s also obsessed with my rosemary bushes and likes to smash his face into them so he always smells like rosemary |
01/15/2025 FROM FOSTER: He is doing so great! He is still very snotty, but he isn’t coughing anymore. He is eating and drinking and playing. He’s just a cool, happy guy! |
01/07/2025 From the foster parent: Charlie continues to recuperate from his upper respiratory infection. He is in great spirits and is eating and drinking and getting lots of rest and love. |
01/04/2025 FROM FOSTER: Charlie is doing great today! He slept really hard all night last night and was still passed out this morning when I woke up to get him up to go outside. He is eating a little bit but not a ton. But it’s better than nothing. He is definitely hard to give the pills to so I will be getting some pill pockets, which should hopefully help with that. He has more pep in his step today and seems to be maybe feeling a little bit better and his eyes seem brighter. |
01/03/2025 I went for a walk to the play yard today. Pup was all around easy. Sniffed and sought affection. |
