05/03/2025 Tails Around Town - Beautiful Willy, a kind hearted boy who loves people and loves other pups. Such a patient pup, he waited patiently in Sephora and Aj’s while purchasing Mother’s Day gifts. Such a charmer having girls, kids and men taking pictures of him. Not too treat motivated, good on leash and did great in the car. Loves all the pets and cuddles an amazing little buddy. |
04/30/2025 went on a field trip: went to south mountain. Relaxed under gazebo. seemed a little scared of man nearby but warmed up very quickly. dog leaned in with paw on lap, solicited attention. Dog walks very well on the leash. Loose leash, excellent walker. Rode very well in the car. dog was very friendly to new people with tail wagging and showed his smiles for them. he met other dogs but he didn't react to them at all at Petsmart. we had lunch in the car, we shared a big steak, he just sat and waited patiently until given his steak. Went to the park, he rolled on grass many times, loved scratching his back, gave me kisses and loved belly rubs. He slept in the car on the way back to the shelter. He is very calm, affectionate, loving, very well-behaved. He is such a good boy!!! |
04/26/2025 , 4/26/25 - I went on a Four Paws walk today! |
04/21/2025 Tails Around Town - We had a great time with Willy, we were able to take him out to the park for a walk, get him a pup cup and were able give him lots of cuddles. Willy was a very sweet boy who gives lots of kisses and although he has a hard time listening to instructions, he made up for it by constantly having the biggest smile in the world. We did notice that he also doesn’t like bigger treats, he prefers the smaller ones and he was shy at first, but warmed up quickly to people. He was staring a kids a lot and seemed really excited when they were near like he wanted to play with them. |

03/05/2025 AM rounds- tense body; low tail wag; softened with interaction |
02/28/2025 Approached from back of kennel, K9 was initially slow and hesitant to come outside, but did come out when offered high value treats (Hot Dogs) K9 allowed easy leashing and slowly exited on his own. K9 did walk on leash the short distance to the play yard (handler kept leash loose to avoid any pressure). Once in play yard, K9 explored and sniffed around, body was slightly tense, tail down but not tucked. K9 did come trotting over to handler when called and allowed all petting all over. The longer in the yard, the more relaxed K9 became and his tail slowly raised up. K9 continued to explore and sniff around independently, but would come over anytime handler called him. Handler picked up leash to attempt to walk him around the yard on leash, for a few moments, K9 did allow the walking on leash, handler offered lots of praise and treats. However after a few moments, K9 stopped walking on leash and refused to move, even when coaxed with hot dogs and praises, handler dropped leash. When leash was dropped, K9 still followed handler around the play yard and allowed all handling and solicited attention, even rolled over on his back for belly rubs. At the end of interaction, handler slowly attempted to lead K9 out of play yard on leash, trying to keep the leash slack and offering lots or treats to coax him forward. However, after a few feet out of play yard, K9 refused to walk any further on leash and handler had to pick him up put him in kennel (muzzle wrapped out of an abundance of caution- K9 did not struggle). NOTE: K9 must be moved around the shelter with a bucket. When in a new home, will most likely need extensive leash work with patient and experienced handler/adopter. |
02/27/2025 Removed patient from kennel for exam. Patient intially solicits atttention and is tolerant of exam/handling. Upon attempt to return patient to kennel, patient began bucking on leash, but was cooperative in being carried short distance to kennel. Hesitant to walk on leash. |
02/27/2025 Updating to Orange for a full eval due to intake notes- Furthermore, handler attempted to move kennels and K9 still refused to walk on leash, handler muzzle wrapped and carried back to original kennel. (Although, upon initial approach, K9's body was relaxed, spine was curved, tail wagging soft and loose and K9 watched handler with soft eyes. K9 was also easy to leash and did initially come out of kennel easily, pancaked a few feet away from kennel and then could not be coaxed even with high value treats) |
02/27/2025 AM rounds- tense body; slightly tucked tail; slowly came to front of kennel and gave low tail wag |
02/26/2025 Tense body; able to vaccinate and perform all required handling with mild restraints; skin crawl when trying to verify reproductive status; requires bucket when being moved to kennel due to heistation walking |
