About me Since going into foster care, I have been getting caught up on my sleeping! Stress-free naps are the best. I also enjoy sleeping in bed with my humans. My foster mom is calling me a velcro dog through and through as I am very affectionate and always asking for pets and attention. My adoption fee is a bargain! Not only do you get my unconditional love and a new BFF, it includes my spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchip!
06/21/2025 From the foster parent: Zelda is a very easy dog to care for. She really likes cheese. She likes to follow me around everywhere I go and will lay down at the floor next to my feet. She is almost 100% housetrained. She really does not play with doggie toys and does know the command "stay".She sleeps all day so she doesn't need much attention. |

06/12/2025 does really well and loves the car, loves people - met a ton of people in Lowes, tense body lnaguage when saw another dog, walks great on leash. She will stop and lay down next to handler when handler stopped walking, sweetest thing in the world! |

06/08/2025 EET Rounds: Demand barking with a helicopter tail while shifting weight on front paws. |
06/08/2025 , I went for a four paws walk today. Zelda was not interested in other dogs while on their walk. Zelda’s energy level was medium, strength was strong for their size, and walking style would best be described as going between pulling and loose leashed. Zelda’s personality was calm, affectionate, alert, independent, friendly and Zelda sits on command. Zelda is food motivated and does take treats gently. |
06/07/2025 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Moderate to return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, Sit |

06/01/2025 EET ROUNDS: soft and wiggly, began demand barking |
05/31/2025 Sitting in back of kennel looking at surroundings |
05/31/2025 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm |

05/26/2025 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Zelda was such a happy girl!! She greeted a young, high energy dog in the yard next to us at the fence with a soft demeanor. She preferred pets, affection and attention to treats. She was a very good girl! |
05/26/2025 Sleeping outside. |
05/25/2025 EET Rounds: Demand barking with whale eyes & a tick tock tail. |
05/24/2025 Approached front of kennel and stretched |
05/23/2025 Pupils dilated, rhythmic barking, tik tok tail, wouldn't settle. |
05/22/2025 Rhythmic barking, panting heavily, tik tok tail, attempting to fight with neighbor B40, wouldn't settle. |
05/22/2025 Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, Pup was easy pull to yard-followed me. In yard she checked out yard and wandered over to me a couple of times. Filled tub with water and she sipped from it. She turned down a couple of treats, dropped on ground but retrieved them later. Posed for a photo with staff. Affectionate. |
05/18/2025 From the foster parent: Zelda is doing good on her crate-training. The door to her crate is always open and she often enters her crate just to rest even though we are all at home. She still whines throughout the night when placed in the crate while we are in our room, so she still sleeps with us on the bed at night. Zelda has established a standard routine. She will have her breakfast when we all wake up in the morning, then she will pee and poop. She will nap or play with us in the afternoons, then have her dinner again in the evening, followed by toileting. She is the EASIEST dog we have fostered so far! No destruction to our furniture, no biting, just needs a lot of tender loving care and attention. |
05/10/2025 FROM FOSTER: Zelda is doing well |
04/30/2025 From foster: Zelda has been great so far! I’ve observed that she is a very low-energy dog with occasional zoomies. She hardly plays with toys unless we hype her up, but she loves food and treats! All Zelda wants is to be with her humans all day long. We leave her uncaged when we’re out, and she just lies on the couch the whole time until we get back. When we take her out, she tends to pull on the leash but can be redirected. She sleeps with us at night on the same bed. She cannot be left alone in the living room, or she will whine loudly. We tried putting her in a cage one night, but when I went to check on her, she had somehow escaped. I still don’t know how she managed that! She has shown possible signs of possessiveness. |
04/19/2025 From the foster parent: Zelda is doing great so far! She’s really a sweetheart! She is back to eating 2 meals a day and will now ask for treats. |
04/16/2025 FROM FOSTER: Zelda did well on her first day at home. She slept in the car ride to home too. I do realise she’s sleeping a lot. She slept in the day and she slept through the night as well. So far she free-roamed around the house with no destruction done. She did have 2 accidents on the carpet but I guess it’s because she smelled the scent of other dogs prior. I tried closing the bedroom door with her outside of the room but she whined loudly so she ended up sleeping with us on the bed. She is a velcro dog through and through and is very affectionate, always asking for pets and attention. |
04/13/2025 , I went on a 4 paws walk today! |
04/12/2025 , I went out on Tails Around Town today! |
04/11/2025 Dog was standing on bed in front of kennel door with wagging tail, wiggly body when handler approached. Took treats gently and solicited attentions through kennel gate. Easy leashing and walked with some pull but does settle. Vocal when walking to play yard but was showing no signs of reactivity to dogs in passing. In play yard dog jumped on handlers lap as handler sat down on bench and solicited attentions, allowed petting all over with soft body, wiggly and wagging tail. Explored and would be vocal in yard as dog was being walked into neighboring yard but remained loose with wagging tail, returned to handler and accepted treats gently. Knows "sit". Walked back to kennel with easy leash pull. Walked right into kennel and allowed handler to remove leash with no issues. |
04/07/2025 Tails Around Town: Zelda was a perfect angel during our time together. She was happy to get in my car and was very well-behaved. We started out at Encanto Park, walking around the pond area and observing the ducks and geese. There were some geese with goslings that hissed at Zelda, and Zelda quickly wanted to move away from them. She preferred to simply have nothing to do with them, which was great. She remained calm and well-behaved throughout. Once she seemed a little tired from our walk, we hopped back into the car, and she took a nap until we arrived at Papago Park. We walked around the short nature trail and ponds there, and Zelda seemed to enjoy it. Finally, we went to Tempe Marketplace, where we got a snack (she happily ate some of her treats) and sat in the shaded area near the fountain. Zelda enjoyed pets and scratches, and she soaked up the attention and love (and she loves to be gently brushed with a soft brush). Zelda eventually fell asleep, snoring contentedly at my feet while relaxing in the shade. She also fell asleep and was snoring on the way back to the shelter in the car -SO cute! Zelda is sweet, affectionate, loving, well-behaved, and has a wonderful personality. She seems to be an "easy keeper" and will make someone an amazing companion! |
04/05/2025 Did not eat kibble - supplemented with canned food. |
04/04/2025 Tails Around Town - We took Zelda out on a Tails Around Town and I know there is no such thing as a perfect dog, but Zelda is pretty darn close! She makes an excellent copilot in the car (calm and slept mostly) and walks very well on leash (very little to no pulling). She is soooo affectionate and wags at everyone she sees. We took her back to the house to relax and she is confident in the house and very respectful. We even took a nap together! She loves to be close and is so gentle. Zelda is overall pretty mellow but does get excited when it’s time to go for a walk! She loves chasing squeaky orange balls. She loves hamburgers and pup cups! We saw 4 dogs on our walk and she was curious but not reactive. It is 100% true we fell in love with this special dog. Zelda is a true gem. |
04/04/2025 Did not eat kibble. |
04/03/2025 I went on Tails Around Town today! |
03/31/2025 Demand barked upon approach, easy to pull from kennel. Had mild to moderate pull from kennel, sniffed around for a while before coming to handler seeking affection. Very sweet and affiliative. Would bark with tail alert when dogs walked by. Laid down while handler sat on bench after some time. Easy return. |
03/28/2025 Tails Around Town - Zelda and I had a blast today! We got coffee and a pup cup to share while bird (and human) watching at the park. Then we had a snack, checked out the cute baby goats, and Zelda got scritches from some firefighters at Amadio Farm. We finished up our play date with a fun science walk at Tres Rios Wetlands. She was the bestest pup ever and I loved spending time with her. |
03/27/2025 Moved Zelda to B025 from Swing. Walked good on leash |
03/27/2025 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, Sit, Shake, Easy pup-pull, leashing and walking. Appeared to enjoy yard-offered a treat and she loved it. Lay down next to me and ate it. Tail wagging and very calm. Enjoyed walk-passed other dogs but nonreactive-perhaps a bit curious of one in particular that we passed on the trail.Friendly |

03/06/2025 Demand barking, wiggly body and wagging tail. |
03/03/2025 Tails Around Town - I was paired with Zelda, who was a perfectly well-mannered lady the entire time. She was calm in my car and just wanted to sit by me in the front seat. We went to lunch at The Farm and we walked around the property. Zelda was perfect on a leash, she was nothing but sweet to other people, dogs, and the birds, turkeys, chickens we saw too. We also went for a hike and she loved that! By the end of our time together I knew all she wanted to do was sit and cuddle for a bit – so we did and it was so cute! I gave her treats and she very politely obliged. If anyone’s looking to adopt a dog, please go meet her – she’s an angel and would make the perfect family pet! |
