About me I am so happy to be in a foster home! My foster family describes me as a laid back dog. I am pretty good on the leash and don't pull much but I know I will get better with time. My adoption fee is a bargain! Not only do you get my unconditional love and a new BFF, it includes my spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and even some cool coupons!
05/18/2025 From the foster parent: Marvin has really come into his own this past week and he's really starting to show his wonderful personality. He has started to figure out what toys are, his favorites are plushies that he carries around the whole house. He also was really into playing fetch with a tennis ball yesterday, after which he got a good case of the zoomies. He does seem to have the smallest bit of separation anxiety. He hasn't been destructive, but he looks very worried whenever my wife of I leave the house. He gets a very concerned look on his face and just stares out the window and cries. We haven't put him in his crate since he managed to escape from it, but he's been just the best boy. No accidents, no destruction. He happily just meets us at our pet gate in the morning. Overall he's an extremely loving and affectionate dog. His energy level certainly has increased since we first took him in, but he is still quite laid back, spending most of the day in his dog bed or laying down at our feet. He seems to have gotten over his "only going potty on a leash" thing and is fine to go in our back yard now. Lastly, last night he was very concerned that we might take his plushie away from him while he was eating his dinner, so he plopped it in his food bowl and ate around it! |
05/12/2025 FROM FOSTER: Yesterday afternoon I put him in his crate because I had to leave for about a half hour. When I got home, he had escaped from his crate and was happily greeting me at the door. We let him sleep outside of his crate last night. At one point, shortly after we laid down, one of my cats went around the corner of the hallway and into Marvin’s field of view (still separated by the gate though). Marvin growled and barked, causing the cat to run. After that though, he must have gone to sleep and he didn’t make another noise all night. When I got up this morning, he happily greeted me. Marvin loves his plushy toys! |
05/03/2025 From the foster parent: Marvin continues to settle in. Last night I caught him on an armchair for the first time. I told him “off” a few times then when it was obvious he had know idea what I wanted, I gave his collar a gentle tug and he came down. I then showed him where his bed was and praised him when he laid in it and he hasn’t gotten on any other furniture yet. Overall he’s got a very calm demeanor and pretty much just wants to be near his people. He’s gotten excited to play a couple times, but it has only lasted a couple minutes then he wants to relax again. Really the only “negative” thing about him is that he mostly only goes potty while on the leash. We’re trying to train him to also go when he’s in our back yard. |
04/30/2025 From foster: I wanted to tell you a little bit about Marvin. Marvelous, mellow Marvin!! We have had him almost a week now and have discovered that he is a WONDERFUL dog! Where do I begin?! In the house he does not get on the furniture and mostly prefers to be in his bed. He will follow us to the room we are in and likes to be near us. He will sit near the dinner table and stare longingly up at our food but once he realizes he isn't getting any will resign himself to calmly laying at our feet. He has not gotten into any trouble in the house; appears to be potty trained and doesn't even bark when the doorbell rings! He is protective and will bark at paserby or other dogs if we have the doors open. :0) He doesn't rush the front door when people come in and out and is crate trained. He is crated at night and if we leave the house and we have no had no problems i.e. crying, whining, barking, destruction and he goes in willingly with the encouragement of a treat. On walks he is easy on the leash, rarely pulls and usually walks nicely slightly in front of or on the side of us. When he spots another dog along the way he is interested and pulls a little to go over but is not spastic and doesn't bark or whine. In public he is an absolute gentleman! He sits calmly at our feet while we eat or have a drink. He is non reactive to people coming and going and also very friendly when they come up for a pet. At Lowe's he went up to an employee for a pet and promptly rolled over for a belly rub! At bath time he was patient and calm and allowed me to thoroughly wash him. He is one of the most well behaved fosters we've had in awhile. I can't say enough good things about him! He's affectionate, well behaved, responsive, adorable and seems to be a really good boy all the way around. I look forward to reporting more as we get to know him better! |
04/25/2025 FROM FOSTER: He’s very happy. Last night we tested putting him in his crate before we went to sleep and he went in reluctantly, but once in he was mostly content. He didn’t make a single noise at night! Overall he just seems like a happy, laid back dog. We’ve taken him for 2 walks so far and he’s pretty chill on the leash. He keeps tension, but really hasn’t pulled much. |
04/24/2025 , I went out on Tails Around Town today! |
04/18/2025 Tails Around Town - Marvin did incredibly well on his outing! He went to the park, where he had a great time sniffing trees and rocks. After he peed, he very much enjoyed kicking up the grass and it was hilarious! He saw other dogs and showed no signs of aggression, though he definitely showed interest in playing. At Home Depot, Marvin was very well-behaved. He has good leash manners—walked calmly, stayed close, and didn’t try to pull. He also visited a pet-free home and yard, which he really seemed to enjoy. While he wasn’t too into playing fetch with a ball, he had a blast playing tug-of-war with a toy. Marvin was gentle throughout the visit—he laid down on the grass with us, soaked up lots of pets, and never jumped up on us. He’s a sweet, gentle boy with excellent manners and does great in the car too. |
