About me I am a sweet and affectionate girl with a heart full of love and a serious talent for relaxing—especially belly-up! Whether I am curled up beside you or snoozing on my back with all four paws in the air, I am a pro at bringing cozy vibes wherever I go. I love laying at her foster mom's feet while she is working and I also enjoy going out for walks. I understand the command "Sit" and am always ready to offer a loving nuzzle or lean in for some pets. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate buddy with a laid-back personality and a lovable quirk or two, Poppy might be your perfect match.

05/02/2025 Dog took treats from handler with no issues. Leashed dog with no issues, once leashed dog slipped front paw through leash as a harness placement then did push out of kennel. Handler was able to re-adjust leash then walk dog to a PY. In PY, dog would explore with a flagged tail. Would approach both handlers with a relaxed body. Offered treats, dog would take treats gently then start to sniff handlers pouch & nudge handlers hands. Did not appear to be interested in toys. Another handler was walking a dog near PY, this dog would rush to fence line with a flagged tail. Once dog was out of sight dog would return to handlers. Appears to know "SIT". Would jump up on handlers in a forceful but playful manner, easy to redirect off of handler. Once handler picked up leash, dog would flag tail & walk back to kennel with an extremely hard pull on leash. Entered back into kennel with no issues & leash removal done by hand while dog was standing still. Based on previous behavior while in a home placing NO SMALL ANIMALS as a Requirement. |
05/02/2025 Dog was at kennel door, stiff wagging tail, ears erect, body stiff, took treats. Jumpy when presented with leash but settled, dog slipped leg through leash loop and was placed like a harness, dog exited kennel and allowed first handler to readjust leash, hard pull to play yard. In yard dog approached handlers, body soft, tail wagging, jumpy when offered treats, grabby when taking. Allowed petting all over. While dog was exploring yard other dogs would walk by, dog paced along fence, panting heavily, ears erect and tail flagged, body stiff, difficult to redirect, settled once dogs were out of sight and returned to handlers. Hard pull back to kennel, easy return and leash removal. |

04/25/2025 FROM FOSTER: Poppy continues to impress with her sweet and easygoing nature. She’s fully potty trained and has been left alone in the house for brief periods with no accidents, no destruction, and no issues—just a happy, relaxed girl waiting for her people. She takes treats very gently and has excellent house manners—no counter surfing here! She even knows the "paw" command. Poppy’s calm demeanor, affectionate heart, and treat motivation make her such a wonderful and trainable companion. She’s the perfect match for someone looking for a loyal, low-key best friend to share life’s simple joys. |
04/24/2025 From the foster parent: Poppy is a sweet and affectionate girl with a heart full of love and a serious talent for relaxing—especially belly-up! Whether she's curled up beside you or snoozing on her back with all four paws in the air, she's a pro at bringing cozy vibes wherever she goes. She loves laying at her foster mom's feet while she is working. She also loves going out for walks. This sweet girl knows how to "Sit" and is always ready to offer a loving nuzzle or lean in for some pets. She's been friendly with other dogs she’s met ranging between 30–49 pounds, but it is always best to introduce me slowly to new dog friends. Though she has shown that she can peacefully coexist with other dogs, she’s not suited for homes with birds or cats. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate buddy with a laid-back personality and a lovable quirk or two, Poppy might be your perfect match. |
04/23/2025 From foster: Poppy continues to show what a sweet and smart girl she is. She would do best with slow introductions to other dogs to make sure she is comfortable. It’s also important to note that a home without birds would be ideal—she’s very focused on my bird and shows a strong interest that may not be safe for feathered friends. We are currently working on leash manners (pulling). With the right environment, Poppy will be an incredibly loving and loyal companion. |
04/20/2025 from foster: Poppy is such a smart girl—she already knows “sit” and “paw” (shake), and she’s eager to please. She’s also incredibly affectionate and loves to be by your side, making her a sweet and loyal companion. I gave her a bath and brushed her, and she didn’t seem to mind the brushing at all—she handled it like a champ. Poppy also rides great in the car, settling in calmly for the ride. She’s a lovely mix of brains, heart, and easygoing charm! |
