05/27/2025 FROM FOSTER: Yazzie is the dog that children want to find under the tree on Christmas morning. She's a bundle of effervescence, bounding around the house and yard with her favorite nubby green ball or stuffed animal. Yazzie's named ought to be happy. She's surrounded by crabby old dogs who don't enjoy her endless energy, but she tumbles right by, too busy to mind their attitudes. One of the best things about Yazzie is her lovely, soft, snuggle coat. She has gained weight and no longer has a respiratory infection. Like a blooming rose bud, she has opened up, and she's a loving young girl. Someone will want to take her home |
05/10/2025 FROM FOSTER: Yazzi is doing quite well. I compare her to a flower that is blooming because each day she becomes more beautiful as she adjusts to her new family and home. Yazzi loves to play ball and shake up the resident teddy bear as she bounces around the dog room. There's always something to do and experience. She loves life |
05/03/2025 From the foster parent: Yazzie is an absolute dream boat! Her first night in foster, she slept quiety in her kennel with no accidents. She is eating well and mastering the art of the doggie door. She is beginning to warm up to her new family. |
04/30/2025 Rounds: NIK |
04/29/2025 came forward, went back outside, watched handler with neutral body |
04/28/2025 Dog would approach handler then walk outside, then return to handler and walk back outside. Appeared to be unsure whether to greet handler or be outside. Had head low and neutral tail. |
04/27/2025 Dog was locked in for AM cleaning on kennel approach; dog was pacing in circles (tail low, ears pinned). Handler offered hot dog, dog stopped and softened body language, dog approached and took hot dog. Dog started to pace in kennel again while handler unlocked kennel and prepared leash. Once handler reached in for leashing dog stood still and allowed easy leashing. On kennel exit dog showed no reactivity towards neighboring kennels. Dog walked with lower wagging tail and mild pull on leash. Dog was hesitant around cleaning staff but still semi-soft body language. In yard, dog sniffed around for a bit and urinated and then approached handler. Dog took hot dog from handler and solicited pets. Handler initiated "find it" game and dog was engaged in game for 5 minutes. During game dog slowly built confidence and would climb on smooth and wobbly surfaces. Dog had loose, soft body language and would approach handler and solicit pets more often. On return dog walked with wagging tail but more moderate pulling. Dog again showed no reactivity when near occupied kennels. Dog quickly and easily entered kennel and allowed leash removal by hand. |
04/27/2025 Pacing in kennel while smearing fecal matter. |
04/26/2025 Dog was standing in outside half of kennel with head low looking into inside half of kennel. Handler offered treats, dog slowly approached handler, ate treats then turned & ran to outside half of kennel quickly. Handler offered more treats, dog slowly came to inside half of kennel with tail tucked & head low, as handler was closing kennel divider, dog quickly turned & ran to outside half of kennel again. Handler offered more treats & was able to close divider after 3 attempt. Presented leash, dog sniffed leash & handlers hands & allowed leash placement with no issues. Walked to PY with a hard pull on leash, tail tucked & hackles raised with nervousness looking around in all directions. In PY, explored with nose to ground & tail tucked. Dog would approach handler with a relaxed body & soft tail wags. Allowed all petting with no skin crawls or flinching of body. Dog would return to exploring the PY but would then start to pace in PY with ears back, hackles raised, tail tucked & pant heavy with an open mouth. Handler was able to call dog over, dog would come to handler then while petting would relax body again & start to lean into pets while giving soft tail wags. Handler offered dog treats, dog would take treats gently. Appears to know "SIT". Handler picked up leash & dog walked back to kennel with a hard pull on leash with an open mouth while panting heavy, ears pinned back, hackles raised & a tucked tail. Entered back into kennel building & into kennel with no issues. Handler offered more treats then was able to remove leash by hand with no issues. After handler closed kennel door, dog ran to outer portion of kennel, started to pace & pant heavy again. |
04/23/2025 soft body, walked into triage room, seeks attention, nervous, timid, allowed all petting, walked to kennel |
