About me I am a sweet, funny and smart dog. I am a little low rider - long and low with a style all my own. I can be timid at first but I warm up very quickly. I love food, so once you fill my belly, I will be your friend forever. I am an unabashed lapdog! I know how to use the doggy door and has been left in the house to roam freely for about 5 hours without an accident or being destructive. I just really want to please and I have learned to walk on a loose leash, to 'sit' and am learning how to 'stay'. My adoption fee is a bargain! Not only do you get my unconditional love and a new BFF, it includes my neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and even some cool coupons!
06/27/2025 From the foster parent: Monty is quite shy. He has been doing well with our dog pack but still gets antsy and scared around new people and men. Bear and Hunter are very tall so it’s scary for him when they approach. He’s never attempted to bite or anything other than bark at them and back away. He tries to be the tough guy but has no idea what to do lol He is a Velcro dog to me. He wants to be connected at all times when I’m present. Very much a mamas boy. He is the sweetest little soul. Very sweet and easy going when he’s not with other dogs or people. He does walk decently on leash and enjoys walks. He likes to chase birds if you let him but not to hurt them thankfully! He also is ok with cats but very interested in them and will chase them if they run from him. |
06/02/2025 FROM FOSTER: He’s doing well so far :) Definitely unsure of men, we are working on his confidence but he’s done well with our dogs so far and even played yesterday afternoon. He’s eating well too. He’s definitely a bit of a velcro dog, unsure of people but we will work on that! |
06/02/2025 FROM FOSTER: He’s doing well getting used to being with other dogs and other people. He is a velcro pupper for sure! He will not leave my side when I’m home and at night is snuggled to me at all times. We went on a long walk and he did well, still working on leash manners and not chasing birds lol Very interested in them! But not in a mean way. He’s ridiculously cute and sweet! |
05/16/2025 FROM FOSTER: Monty is a sweet, funny and smart dog. He is a low rider - long and low with a style all his own. Monty is timid at first but warms up very quickly. He's food-motivated, so once you fill his belly, he will be your friend forever. He is an unabashed lapdog! Monty is trained to use the doggy door and has been left in the house to roam freely for about 5 hours without an accident or being destructive. Monty wants to please and has learned to walk on a loose leash, to 'sit' and is learning how to 'stay'. Monty is initially hesitant to go for walks. The big world is a little intimidating to him at first. But, with each walk he gains more and more confidence. |
04/29/2025 On approach, dog appeared timid and apprehensive of handler. Ears back, head low, watching carefully. Handler crouched down and cracked gate, presented hot dogs; dog slowly came forward, tail beginning to wag. Handler spent a couple minutes tossing treats and using soft vocal cues. Handler was able to step into kennel and place leash. Dog exited wing slowly, cautiously. Once outside, dog's body language softened and began wagging tail. Walked with light pull. Easily startled and needed occasional coaxing. In yard, dog explored surroundings and frequently came to handler. Allowed all petting. Grabby with treats, so handler opted to toss them onto ground instead of offering by hand. Leaned in for petting. On return, handler walked dog to new 5-pack kennel. Dog entered easily and allowed handler to pet. Handler then stepped out of kennel and removed leash by hand without issue. |
04/26/2025 Dog came forward to front of kennel with a soft body & accepted treats. Handler opened kennel & dog retreated to corner of kennel near divider. Handler slowly tossed more treats into kennel, dog would slowly come forward for more treats then lay down in middle of kennel. Handler used a wide loop leash & leaned into kennel to leash dog while dog was laying down. Handler was able to step into kennel, softly muzzle wrap dog & pick up to carry to a M&G room. Dog allowed petting while being carried & had soft tail wags. Handler placed dog on ground. Dog explored room with soft tail wags. Handler offered treats while dog was exploring in room, dog would approach handler, sit down next to handler & take treats softly from handler. Dog would look up at handler while being pet with soft eyes & soft tail wags. Each time handler would pet dog, dog would not flinch body or have any skin crawls. Handler stood up & walked around room, dog would follow handler. Handler kneeled down & dog came forward, sat next to handler & allowed petting while leaning into handlers legs. Handler stood up & walked dog near door, dog slowly followed handler. Handler proceeded to walk back to kennel, dog would walk along side handler on leash slowly back to kennel. Entered into kennel with no issues & allowed leash removal by hand. Handler offered more treats & closed kennel door with no issues. |
04/25/2025 Dog was curled up in corner, stared at handler, could not coax forward verbally or with hot dogs, not interested in treats tossed nearby, closed divider. Handler was able to enter kennel, dog still remained in corner, handler slowly approached, dog allowed pets. Able to muzzle wrap, pick up and carry to M&G room. Handler sat in chair next to dog, allowed petting all over, leaned into handler's leg, looked up at handler when the petting stopped. Dog then lied down and rested head on floor, remained in same spot the whole time. Able to pick up and carry back to kennel, once returned able to remove leash. |
04/24/2025 Dog was in back corner of kennel curled up. Tossed treats into kennel. Dog was not interested. Wide eyed. Handler closed divider. Dog continued to be curled up. Handler was able to reach in lasso leash. Dog continued to be curled up. Offered treats not interested. Sat up. Allowed handler to slowly step in. Tolerated petting. Handler lightly muzzle wrapped and continued to pet. Allowed handler to slowly pick up. Carried to meet and greet room. In room, briefly sniffed then defecated. Dog walked over to corner of room and sat. Remained in corner entire time. Staff walked into room to help clean feces. Dog just sat in corner. Handler sat a distance away from dog. Tossed treats. Dog took treats after some moments. Would not approach for treats tossed near handler. Handler reached out with treats. Dog took treats slowly from handler's hand. Remained in corner. Tolerated petting. Lightly muzzle wrapped and picked up. Carried back to kennel. Placed in kennel. Allowed leash removal. |
04/24/2025 k9 in corner of kennel trembling. Handler spoke softly and entered kennel, placed leash, k9 did not move. Handler able to hold for blood draw with no issues. k9 did not react, allowed all handling. Once released from hold for blood draw k9 settled, allowed pets all over. |
04/23/2025 nervous, not seeking any attention, wont walk on leash, allowed all handling and vaccinations, |
