05/16/2025 Handler approached kennel, canine was pacing in and out of kennel, ears back, tail stiff and straight down. Handler knelt down and tossed treats into kennel, canine ignored and watched second handler in wing. Second handler left to get hot dogs, came back. Handler tossed hot dogs, would not take off ground but took one form handler through gate. After eating hot dog, canine ate all treats off of floor. Canine continued to have wide eyes, ears back, tucked body but was glancing frequently at a load kennel nearby. Handler cracked gate, canine stood still ducked head down, able to easily leash. Pulled hard at end of leash, pulled to a bush and urinated immediately. Entered yard and continued to pull hard. Dropped leash. Canine relived urinated multiple times, defecated 3 different times, body was stiff with tail up. After reliving himself, noticed a dog in the yard over. Approached fence, with"flirty" ears, tail up and loose wagging, smelling and whinning through fence. Volunteer removed other dog from yard as it started reacting. Handler called dog over, he approached. Handler asked for sit and canine did, gave treat. Handler was able to quickly teach canine "touch" as well for hot dogs. Canine would sit waiting for more treats. Handler walked away. Second handler threw a tennis ball, canine chased and brought right back, used second tennis ball to keep game going. Brought over to handler, used treat to trade for tennis ball, threw, canine chased walked around with and dropped it to smell yard. Canine approached handler, handler lightly pet head, canine flinched slightly, tail up and slightly stiff, handler pet neck and canine accepted petting. Handler went and sat on bench and canine rubbed self between legs soliciting petting almost cat like, handler pet all along back and neck, walked away. Canine followed, did more rounds of sit and touch. When handler was done giving treats, showed empty hands as canine was sitting watching handler. Canine jumped up on handler, handler stood still and canine dropped down and walked away on own. Continued to explore yard, hand another round of rubbing against legs soliciting pets and attention. Able to collect leash and exit yard. Tall male staff member walked close to canine in passing, canine did not react. Entered kennel easily, handler able to reach in and remove leash by hand. Recommend using treats to trade canine for tennis ball or alternating between two tennis balls if play fetch in yard. |

05/07/2025 Dog was in back kennel on front kennel approach, Handler was able to lure dog forward with treats and verbal coaxing. Dog allowed leashing and exited kennel slowly. Dog pulled strongly out of building without showing outward signs of reactivity (barking, lunging, pulling) towards occupied kennels. Dog pulled to bush near yard to urinate. Once dog was in yard handler walked dog around for a bit and was able to secure stopper and released dog into yard. Dog walked around and urinated/marked and defecated several times. Dog then loosened up and began to play bow and dart around with loose body. At times dog would stiffen up with flagged tail while looking at handler. Dog was hesitant and would dart off at first but eventually allowed handler to pet him. Handler approached a tennis ball to throw for dog and dog ran up and stood over it with stiff body, handler was then able to get dog to loosen up and was able to grab ball near dog. Handler threw ball and dog engaged, handler sat on bench and dog approached with ball in mouth. Handler was able to pet dog while ball was in mouth but dog displayed semi stiff body with flagged tail. At times when petting dog displayed flagged tail and closed mouth heavily focused on environment. Handler was able to retrieve leash easily and dog pulled strongly to kennel. Dog entered kennel without issue and allowed leash removal by hand near toys and treats. |
05/07/2025 Dog was in outside portion of kennel as handler approached, tail tucked then flagged, would walk halfway into inside portion of kennel before going back outside, head low and wary towards approaching handler. Took dog some time to build confidence to approach handler, would go inside and out of divider a couple times before meeting handler at front of kennel to accept treat, dropped treat. Handler closed divider and dog stood in middle of kennel, allowed for easy leashing as dog came forward. Walked with some strong pulling but no issue directing dog to yard, dog pulled handler to plant to pee, then walked with strong pull to inside of play yard. Dog allowed handler to place leash stop, began to explore with flagged tail before defecating a few times. Dog came to handler when handler presented treats, dog took treat from handlers hand with wide open mouth, tolerated petting from handler but did flinch before handler petted, became touch sensitive when handler petted back side then began to explore. Dog would return over to handler with more softer body, accepting pets and did lean in for body pets, ate treats from open palm fine. Handler got up and dog followed, showed interest in ball in yard and was standing over ball when handler was approaching, some stiffness and tail flagged but dog grabbed ball and began running with it. Dog dropped ball when handler called over and offered treats, ate treats and had distance from the ball so handler picked up ball, dog showed no guarding behaviors and chased after ball when thrown with loose body and wagging tail. Dog would play bow when handler would kneel down, some stiffness and some loose interactions but dog was inconsistent with behaviors. Would come to handler when called and accept pets before calling dog over to leave yard. Dog had wagging tail and neutral body meeting handlers by play yard gate. Walked back with easy pull, less pulling. Showed interest in dogs in passing with wagging tail and sniffing kennels, did not show negative reactivity towards dogs. Walked right into kennel and allowed handler to reach in to remove leash. Toys and treats were present and dog showed no guarding behaviors. |
05/06/2025 Closed dog to outer portion. Pulled from back. Dog was standing at front of kennel; stiff; side eyed; not interested in treats; easy leash; pulled hard to yard. In yard, handler added a second leash to extend. Held onto leash for a few moments then dropped leash. Dog defecated for several moments throughout interaction. Handler tossed treats dog would take tossed treats but not approach dog would become still then play bow and then run away. Explored yard for a few moments. Would come near handler and stand still if handlers made a movement dog would flinch then suddenly play bow and run away. Handler sat on bench and coaxed dog over with treats. Dog eventually approached close enough and took treats gently from handler's hand. Handler lightly pet middle to lower back while feeding treats dog would eat treats then slowly turn head around and side eye. Handler offered more treats and tried petting dog stopped eating treats when trying to pet again. Slowly turned head around and side eyed handler stopped dog did not take remainder of treats and walked away. Continued exploring. Handler tried to coax over with treats dog approached did not take treats. Placed front paws on bench handler moved over dog got down and walked away. Explored with a stiff body again. Would approach handlers and play bow and run away. After some time dog got close enough and handler was able to pick leash up. Added clip leash. Pulled back to kennel. Entered kennel and allowed removal with clip leash. |
05/06/2025 Dog was in back side of kennel. Handler closed dog out. Dog was at front of kennel door. Body stiff and side eyeing handler but easy to leash and walked out quickly from kennel. Dog had hard pull on walk to PY with stiff body and high tail. In yard dog defacated right away. Dog would run around with tucked butt and stop suddenly then play bow and would run away again. Dog stayed a distance from handler but would take treats from the ground. Dog defacated multiple times and urinated. When handlers would take a step dog would flinch and go back into play bow and run around. Handler sat at bench and dog came up to handler when offered treats. Dog took treats gently from handlers hand. Dog was alert to surroundings during eval. Handler pet dog on the back and dog turned around body stiff with side eye. Dog went back to eating treats. Handler was able to pick up leash and dog had a hard pull going side to side on walk back to kennel. Dog walked right into kennel with no issue and dog allowed handler to take off leash with clip leash. |

05/05/2025 Dog would not come forward when handlers approached kennel, not interested in treats or coaxing but watched handlers from divider. Closed divider and met dog on other side, allowed handler to apply leash with no issues. Walked with strong pull, would pull towards 2nd handler but no issue directing dog to yard. In play yard dog spent most of couple minutes in yard defecating around yard, avoidant of handlers and would run from handler if approached. Dog warmed up to 2nd handler, would sit for treats and accept treats but did not solicit attentions. Dog would run from handler whenever approached but showed high interest in ball in yard, would chase and allow handler to pick up ball when dog dropped. Dog did become more relaxed as eval progressed, but would not solicit attentions or let handlers approach, would come to handlers for treats and ball. Walked back to kennel with strong pull. No issue returning to kennel and using clip leash to remove leash. |
05/05/2025 Dog was in back kennel on front kennel approach, lead handler tried to lure dog inside, dog would not fully come inside. Handler lowered guillotine with dog on outside portion. On back kennel approach do was standing on hind legs with paws on door. Handler tried to give dog treat, dog was not interested. Dog allowed for easy leashing, handler used large loop and god did not move away. When exiting kennel dog pulled very strongly, dog urinated on bush and continued to pull strongly into yard. Handler added extension leash to drag line due to dogs disinterest in handlers. For first 5 min of evaluation dog wandered yard urinating and defecating, keeping distance from handlers and darting off if they came too close. Dog eventually loosened up and began to solicit play with handler. Dog did not allowed or solicit pets but encouraged fetch play with ball. Dog seemed weary of assistant handler (male). Handler was able to retrieve leash and walk back to kennel. Lead handler attached clip leash for leash removal due to dogs strength and possible door dashing. Handler removed leash with clip leash, dog did not attempt to door dash. |
