09/13/2025 Dog was at front of kennel, soft body and wagging tail. Initially head-shy of leash placement but did allow it. Exited kennel calmly. Outside, dog walked a few feet then stopped, refusing to go forward. Dog entered behavior taxi on own. Rode well with nose up in air, sniffing. Handlers took dog to walking path; dog exited taxi once tilted. Dog walked loose leash near handlers, occasionally stopping and needing coaxing. Did not appear fearful of surroundings when stopping; would just stand still, panting softly, wagging tail. Allowed all petting. After walking approximately halfway down path, dog turned and began walking in opposite direction. Walked past taxi and attempted to get back into it; easy to direct out again. Walked loose leash until eventually stopping and sitting near handler; would not move. Allowed petting while waiting for taxi to arrive. Dog walked into taxi easily. Rode well back to kennel. Needed some coaxing to enter kennel; followed in behind handler and allowed handler to step out. Removed leash by hand. *** Interested parties should be made aware of all medical notes *** *Interested parties should be counseled on proper leash work and understand that dog might take some time to become fully comfortable walking on leash in new home environment. Dog will likely be better suited for a harness in lieu of leash on collar, as a harness redistributes pressure and can make walking safer and more comfortable.*
09/12/2025 Closed inside for AM cleaning. Dog approached handler, ears back, soft body and wagging tail, took treats. Avoidant and retreated to back when presented with leash, tail tucked, handler tossed more treats on bed, while eating treats handler was able to slip leash on, dog slowly exited kennel with verbal coaxing, tail tucked while slowly walking to yard. In yard dog explored, nose to ground, tail low, body neutral, softened with wagging tail when approaching handler, allowed petting all over, took treats gently. Continued exploring yard, able to coax over to gate with more hot dogs, handler picked up leash, unable to coax dog out of yard, dog began to pull back but settled when there was less tension on leash, handler called for taxi, dog was sitting calmly while waiting, dog walked into taxi without assistance, dog exited taxi but was hesitant to enter kennel, unable to coax in with hot dogs, handler stepped in and was able to coax in verbally, attempted to exit with handler but used mild leash pressure to keep dog in kennel, able to remove leash by hand.
09/11/2025 Dog was in front half of kennel on approach. Assistant handler offered treats then presented a large loop leash, dog would keep dodging leash placement. Handler offered more treats then leaned into kennel to leash, handler was able to leash after a few attempts while dog was dodging leash. Once leashed, dog would walk with a stop & go approach with a lot of verbal coaxing & treat trail. Dog would start to pull back & thrash on leash. Once out of kennel building, dog would start to pant heavily while looking around with whale eyes. Assistant handler brought a behavior taxi. Dog entered into behavior taxi on own. While in PY, dog would continue to pant heavy. Would explore PY with slow tail wags. Would approach handlers & allow petting. Handler would pet near hind of back & along side of legs, dog would either allow pets with no issues or would freeze body while licking lips then start to skin crawl. Dog would not walk on leash while in PY. Dog would have moments of being still bodied while licking lips & looking towards handler when exploring. Once dog was near the behavior taxi, handler would tip behavior taxi to the side, dog would enter on own. Rode back to kennel with no issues. Dog would enter back into kennel with a lot of treats to coax back into kennel. Removed leash by hand.
