This approach sets both the dog and the adopter up for long-term success in new home environment.* |

| 11/12/2025 Went to an offsite PetSmart event today. Easy to leash, moderate pull while walking, went right into the van kennel. Frequent barking andwhining on the way over. Settled after about 20 minutes. Took treats gently. Some whining and demand barking at event. Some barking at other dogs who walked by. Eventually settled. Accepted petting all over. Played with squeaky toy and water bowl. Very reluctant to get into the van after the event. Pulled and twisted out of her leash, and had to be recovered in the parking lot. Was eventually picked up and placed in van kennel with leash still attached. Chewed through leash in kennel. Was relatively easy to unload with another leash, walked with stong pull, and easy to return to sheltre kennel. Handler was able to remove new leash by hand. While Porche did pull away and swing her head to avoid entering the van, she remained soft-faced and tolerant of all handling, leaning into handler to settle before being liften into the van. |
