About me Hi, I’m Armie! I’m a young pup with a curious heart. Right now, I’m living with my foster mom, two dog brothers, 2 cat brothers, and a cat sister but I am looking for my forever home. Could that be you? I would do great in a home with another dog and maybe some kids who want to play fetch with me. My current favorite toy is a tug-of-war chew toy. If you’re not sure how to play, I’d be happy to teach you. I’ll be bringing plenty of my favorite toys along, I’m great at sharing—so we’ll have lots of fun playing together. I can't wait to meet you!
06/11/2026 from foster: Armie is doing well. He has been wrestling with our other dog and playing tug of war with him more the last few days.
05/13/2026 Armie is doing great here at the house. We have found lots of things for him to stay occupied, Kong toys with peanut butter and kibble are a favorite. He has a puzzle feeding dish that he has to move the layers around to get to all of the kibble and the hidden treats. This keeps him occupied for a good 10 - 15 minutes at meals. We have cats at the house, 3, and it was a rough start with them and Armie. He likes to herd them very much and they did not appreciate his efforts. Now Armie gets along well with all 3 cats; he doesn't pay them any mind, and peace has been restored at home. He is still a little nervous in new situations, but he settles right down and becomes the love bug that he has always been. We have been walking with him on leash in the neighborhood, and he has been doing much better as far as tugging on the leash. He loves to play; he is so toy driven. He has met older kids in the neighborhood, and he gets along really well with them. They throw the ball or frisbee for him and he is so happy.
04/26/2026 From the foster parent: The suggestions for the games and training for Armie have been a hit so far. We have been playing with stuffable toys, filled with frozen Peanut Butter, kibble, treats and jerky. I gave him one yesterday that was full of jerky and PB and it took him almost 30 minutes to get everything out of it. The frozen PB is also good for making balls and hiding them behind obstacles, under boxes, and furniture. We have not told him that they were there; it took a bit, but he smelled the treat, and he went to look for it. No more plush toys for our pal, Armie; he tears them apart very, very fast and goes for the squeaker and leaves fiberfill all over the floor! We have switched him to rubber Kong toys, tug of war and chasing the ball and frisbee. He really likes to chase toys around the yard, he has us well trained to throw for him. I have been taking neighborhood walks with him daily. He is very hyperaware for the first few minutes, noises and smells but he does settle down and walk without much pulling. He takes a short leash, 5 feet, and 2 hands on it to redirect him to pay attention. I have been quacking at him to get his attention back, and it works great. We have been crate training him when we are out of the house for extended periods, more than an hour. Armie is doing well with this, as long as he has a toy with him to play with, preferably filled with PB and snacks. I really think he would do well with older kids; he gravitates towards them when we walk in the neighborhood. Armie really wants to play with other dogs; our 2 dogs are coming along with the idea of playing find the treat with him. He is still a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and sticks like Velcro to his people. He is so smart, he keeps me thinking of more games to play with him, to occupy his mind.
04/24/2026 From foster: Armie was a busy dog yesterday while I was out of the house. He now has 2 dog blankets and 2 fewer pillows. Armie really likes stuffed animals but they do not last very long here because he tears the stuffing out of them. We have tried Kong toys and they have been marginally better at being chewed up and staying together. He seemed to know that he was in the doghouse yesterday and he cuddled with Marvin in his bed and kept giving us guilty looks. We got him a puzzle feeder that slows his munching down because he must go through layers to get to the kibble. He is very smart and curious about toys that he has to work at to get a treat. He would benefit from a having a playmate and/ or a kid to play with. That would be a great permanent home for him, someone to play with and something to do to keep him occupied. Armie is trying to herd the cats now, since the dogs won't play along with him, they are older. He is the sweetest dog and does not act up usually, when he is redirected promptly. We are working on walking and basic commands, sit, stay.
04/16/2026 From foster: Out for a walk with Armie in the neighborhood this morning. He is walking on leash with minimal pulling, and he listens when he is redirected. Armie greeted the Amazon driver without barks or pulling on the leash. He is doing much better on walking in public and being around unfamiliar noises and surroundings. Very good boy who loves his toys and treats.
04/14/2026 From the foster parent: Armie and I met with the trainer at PetSmart yesterday and I think it went well. He was nervous and apprehensive at first, but he warmed up and walked with the trainer on the leash. Armie needed redirection, to keep him focused on the task of walking on a leash. By the time we were done, Armie was following commands and was walking well on his leash and was ignoring the other dogs in the store. The trainer gave me some suggestions on what to work on with Armie at home. Walking on the leash with directions to keep him focused and following my directions, 15 minutes 2-3 times a day in the yard. From there we are to progress to taking walks on leash in the neighborhood, with redirection as needed. Armie is skittish at loud noises, a woman was petting him at PetSmart, and she jumped up rather abruptly and noisily. This made him jump, requiring redirection. I am committed to working with Armie, to improve his leash behavior and to decrease the skittishness. I have the time and patience to work with him, he deserves it, he is such a good boy. Armie has decided that my female cat is now a toy to be pursued and played with! We are working on "Leave it" and "Sit and Stay" and he is catching on. Armie is very bright and I think he wants to do the right thing, especially if there is a treat involved when he is good. He is still good to stay here at our place as long as it takes to find him a perfect home.
04/08/2026 FROM FOSTER: Armie is feeling at home now and he has started to initiate play with stuffed toys with my older dog, Marvin. They have been playing tug of war with a rope toy and Armie has been teaching Marvin how to play fair. he is quite a snuggler and a champion good boy.
04/03/2026 FROM FOSTER: Armie continues to be a very good boy and well behaved. He understands No and he listens well and does what he is told to do. Armie plays nicely with his toys; he gets the zoomies with his stuffed toy in his mouth. He will play fetch and bring you the toy to throw for him. All around a terrific dog.
04/01/2026 From foster: Armie continues to do well in the home. He went for a walk around the neighborhood yesterday afternoon and did great with this. He responds to his name and he comes when he is called and he remembered where the house is and ran right inside when we got home. I think Armie would do great with another dog to play with. He really loves plushy chew toys, especially ones he can play tug of war with. Armie is very good with fetching the toy and bringing it back to you to throw again. He would be a great family dog for a family with school age kids who will run and play with him. Armie is quite a leaner, leans on you for some attention, very affectionate, very eager to kiss and love on you. No problems with messes in the house, we have a dog door and he figured it out as soon as he got here. He has been snuggling up to humans and other dogs in the house.
03/30/2026 From the foster parent: He is doing very well, playing nicely with everyone and no more hissing from the cats! I give him 2 scoops of dry food in the morning, and he nibbles on it all day. No guarding or territorial behavior, very easy to feed. I went out for a couple of hours today and came home to find him and Marvin Dennis snuggled together. Armie really likes toys with ropes, playing catch. We bought him a purple Hippo with pull on arms and legs, flat out his favorite toy to play tug of war with.
03/29/2026 From the foster parent: Hi, Armie is doing well, such a sweet boy! I discovered that he only likes dry food but will eat soft treats and cooked chicken. He really likes to play tug of war with his toys, he has some ropes attached to soft toys and he will toss them up and shake them vigorously. Armie wants to play with someone, unfortunately none of our critters are very interested right now. He was trying hard to play with one of the cats last night, paws down and wiggle butt in the air, but no dice. He slept in my room on a dog bed and seemed to be comfortable there. Armie is a championship snuggle bug, he was on the couch with us last night and was very happy there. I think he needs to find a family with school age kids, 6+ years, who will run and play fetch with him. He is clearly good with other animals, cats too; he really doesn't chase them. Maybe a home with another playful dog in his age range would be good.
03/28/2026 FROM FOSTER: Armie is doing great! He has been bonding with our 2 dogs and 3 cats, a few hisses but no chasing or poor behavior. He has been snuggling up with us on the couch and giving lots of kisses. As you can see, he has found the toys and has been chewing on his squeaky Stitch toy. He has found the dog door and the back yard, no problems with making a mess in the house. He is going to be a terrific dog for someone who wants a snuggly sweetheart of a pet.

01/17/2026 Dog slowly approached handler, body low, low tail wags, ears back, took treats gently from hand. Head shy when trying to place leash but remained at front of kennel, after a couple attempts allowed handler to slowly place leash. Dog exited kennel, tail tucked, ears back, surveyed surroundings, ignored kenneled dogs, no issues on the way to yard. Explored yard, nose to ground, tail partly tucked, not interested in hot dogs tossed on ground, slightly evasive as handler walked around to pick up after dog. Handler sat in chair, dog eventually approached with wagging tail, ears back, leaned into handler and allowed petting all over, began whimpering while being pet, nudged hand when the petting stopped soliciting more attention. Handler stood and picked up leash, dog remained next to handler, still whimpering, followed handler to gate, allowed more pets, easy walk back to kennel, easy return, able to remove leash by hand. *Dog would benefit from a quiet environment with adequate decompression time and slow introductions to set dog up for success in new home.

After a few moments, dog approached handler again; allowing for slow petting; remained near handler; allowed handler to pick leash up; walked back with a light pull; startled by staff turning a corner; pulled away; continued walking; entered kennel; allowed handler to slowly remove leash by hand. |
01/14/2026 Dog was standing near kennel divider, body low, tail tucked, wide-eyed. Looked up at handler when coaxed, tense, but would not come forward. No interest in treats. Handler opened divider to let dog shift into smaller kennel side, then closed it and walked around. Dog remained very tense with slow, cautious movements. Handler opened gate; dog stepped back, watching carefully. Would not come forward for high value treats. Handler presented leash for dog to sniff, then was able to lean in and place leash with large loop. Dog was very tense but allowed it. Dog exited kennel and walked with light, nervous pull, tail tucked, eyes darting. Hesitated to pass through some doorways but would follow if handler went through first. Slowed in front of barking dogs, urinated, then continued. In yard, handler walked dog on leash for a few moments, then adjusted leash stopper and released. Dog explored with tail down and stiff, eyes darting around, easily startled. Handler sat on bench and gave dog extended time to decompress. Dog continued to explore, occasionally stopping and looking up over fence line. Eventually approached handler and stopped to sniff handler's legs. Handler did not attempt to pet. Tossed treats nearby but dog was not interested. Dog wandered away. Appeared alert to dogs being walked outside yard and would approach fence with ears up, body postured forward, focused. After a few more minutes, handler stood and walked to gate. Called out "let's go" and dog came over, appearing on alert, tail tucked. Stood near gate with handler, but recoiled away and stared if handler attempted to reach for leash. Became avoidant, keeping distance, looking over shoulder. Came back to gate when called but would not allow handler to retrieve leash. Assistant handler arrived and was able to distract dog over yard fence as first handler retrieved leash, then slowly placed clip lead. On return, dog was nervous, pulling back on leash, needing coaxing. Once inside main building, dog walked straight back to wing with moderate pull. Hesitated to enter kennel but followed inside when handler applied light leash pressure. Removed leash via clip lead. Dog sniffed handler's hand through gate and licked it once before handler stepped away.
01/12/2026 used control device throughout intake, allows minor dog handling, advanced restraint for vaccines, timid, Tail tuck, nervous, avoidant with handler, use caution when handling and approaching
