5/8/2026 *Mock m&g evaluation* Dog was at kennel front; soft body, wagging tail, panting; front two paws jumping on door eager to exit kennel. Handler was able to secure leash over head while bracing door as dog tried pushing out; exited with mild pull; interested in other dogs in passing; soft body. Assistant handler was waiting in yard on bench; dog entered yard still loose and neutral bodied; alert posture towards people in passing; approached assistant handler on bench; slightly more tense; alert; disengaged easily and continued walking around yard. Dog briefly let out chuff at passing by staff; handler dropped leash and sat on bench next to assistant handler. Dog would approach handler and take treats; allowed petting; neutral wagging tail. Dog would approach assistant handler willingly with slight facial and body tension; sniffed hand and took treat. Dog would briefly engage with handlers when treats were present; did not solicit attention but would sit attentively and follow handlers around and take treats; paced and listened to surrounding environment. At one point assistant handler had stood and began taking steps around yard; dog would be engaged; took treats; not interested in hand offered when trying to pet. Assistant handler was able to kneel on ground and dog approached; sniffed; took treats; remained standing in front of assistant handler, not soliciting petting; assistant handler went to stand up and dog silently lunged and nipped towards handler's leg; followed through with another brief lunge as assistant handler stood but no contact made. Handler broke focus with a light "hey" and retrieved leash. Handler would keep hold of leash and allow dog to settle; more neutral; continued taking treats from assistant handler. Both handlers sat on bench and allowed dog to decompress; very engaged with assistant handler again sitting for treats and nudging treat pouch. When time to go handler retrieved leash; dog was wary of assistant handler walking behind so assistant handler walked in front; dog followed with wagging tail, moderate pull; entered kennel with no issue; removed leash by hand.
