6/13/2026 Dog was closed outside for cleaning, standing near front of kennel, slight tense body, tail down. Handler crouched, spoke softly; dog began gently wagging tail. Came forward to accept treats, then backed away when handler opened gate. Dog would eat offered treats but kept distance from leash. Handler stepped in, left treats on kennel floor, then was able to use large loop to place leash while dog was eating. Dog would not exit kennel and retreated to back corner. Handler was able to apply muzzle wrap, then lift and carry dog into taxi. Dog made one attempt to jump out, then appeared to settle once finding footing. Rode with feet on edge, looking around. Handler took dog to indoor M&G room. Dog exited taxi, began exploring room. Appeared slightly tense, tail down. Readily approached handler to accept treats from hand, but flinched away from attempts to pet; handler did not force interaction. Dog wandered around room, sniffing. Laid under chair for a few moments, then poked head out and looked up at handler. Accepted treats gently from hand. Handler was able to pet dog on top of head, behind ears. Dog flinched slightly but tolerated it. Appeared to avoid further touch. Dog followed treats back into taxi, then quickly backed out when handler tried lifting it up. Handler applied muzzle wrap, lifted dog. Dog was tense but allowed it. Rode well on return. Exited into kennel, handler slowly removed leash by hand.
6/10/2026 Updating color due to NHO status.
6/4/2026 Closed outside for AM cleaning. Dog approached handler when offered treats, ears perked, tail low, calm, took treats from hand. Backed away slightly when presented with leash, tried luring dog through leash loop using hot dogs but dog would not approach, retreated to back of kennel as handler reached in to place leash. Unable to coax back to front of kennel, handler stepped in and tried placing leash with large loop, dog scurried towards door, handler quickly stepped in kennel and closed door, dog retreated to back corner, continued to dodge leash placement, after a few attempts able to slowly place leash with large loop. Tried using treat trail to coax out of kennel but dog remained frozen, handler was able to approach, muzzle wrap, pick up and carry to small play yard with no issues. Dog explored yard, nose to ground, tail partly tucked, easily startled, ate treats tossed around yard, only approached handler when offered treats, took gently from hand, retreated whenever handler attempted to pet. Able to coax dog into catch pen with more treats, retreated into corner as handler picked up leash, dog would not exit yard, handler was able to approach, muzzle wrap, pick up and carry back to kennel, removed leash and returned, dog came forward to take more treats.
6/3/2026 Dog was closed to front half of kennel during AM cleaning. Handler would kneel down while attempting to coax dog forward with treats in hand & verbal coaxing, dog would not come forward. Dog would slowly stand up while flattening ears, retreating to corner divider wall while tucking tail tightly under body, whale eyed & licking lips. Handler would slowly enter into kennel to drape a large loop leash over dog. Once leashed, dog would stand on hind legs then fall backwards onto kuranda bed. Handler would speak softly while giving dog time to relax then slowly used leash to lightly muzzle wrap dog, picked up & placed into behavior taxi. Dog would ride to small PY while standing on hind legs, peeking over top of behavior taxi wall with tail tightly tucked under body & trembling. Dog would exit into small PY while having tail tucked under body, keeping body lowered to the ground. Handler would sit on chair as dog would sniff slowly nose to ground & with tail tucked under body then shifting to the side of body. Dog would start to pace along fence line when handler would attempt to approach dog, keeping body lowered. Dog would remain distant from handler as handler would kneel down in middle of PY, slowly extending hand to verbally coax dog forward. Handler would slowly pick up leash & approach dog, dog would start to pull back on leash while pinning ears back & licking lips. Handler slowly was able to inch closer to dog then use leash to softly muzzle wrap dog. Placed dog back into behavior taxi. Rode back to kennel while looking out around surroundings. Entered back into kennel on own, able to slowly remove leash by hand then step out of kennel.
