Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers)

9/14/2026 Dog was standing in front half of kennel on approach, offered treats, quickly retreated to outside half of kennel with body lowered, tail tucked under body & flattened ears. Handler would attempt to verbally coax forward, would sit near gate with head lowered & whale eyed. Offered a jackpot amount of treats then stepped to the side out of dogs view. Dog would slowly come forward to eat treats, handler would extend hand to close divider. Dog would quickly lay down in middle of kennel, opened kennel gate & leashed dog without issues while dog would be lying down. Once leashed dog would quickly exit out of kennel while keeping head & body lowered with tail tucked under body then would lay down near exit door. Would not walk any further, handler was able to pick up & carry back to behavior taxi. Rode to M&G room while licking lips & looking around surroundings. Exited out of behavior taxi & retreated to corner of room. Would sit facing corner of room while keeping head lowered, ears flattened & tail tucked under body. Handler would make sounds in room to catch attention of dog, dog would start to tremble body while licking lips. Handler would slowly approach side of dog, dog would slowly walk backwards & sit in middle of room. Handler would sit on chair, dog would avoid eye contact of handler while still keeping head lowered. Allowed handler to slowly approach, extend hand to pet side of body, dog would start to tremble body again while keeping head lowered & eyes on corner of room away from handlers body. Not interested in treats or toys. Able to pick up slowly & carry back into behavior taxi. Rode back to kennel without issues. Would exit out of behavior taxi & attempt to dash out of kennel door once handler would remove behavior taxi, able to straight arm leash into kennel to keep from exiting out of kennel while kneeling down & closing kennel gate. Able to remove leash by hand once door was almost closed. Opened kennel divider, dog would quickly turn & retreat to outside half of kennel.
