Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers)

9/13/2026 Dog was at front of shoreline kennel, alarm barking as handler approached, mildly tense, still tail above spine level, handler tossed treats for a minute and dog began to soften, sitting calmly at front, handler got a towel and came back, dog was standing neutral at front, handler able to easily place leash, dog stood looking down as if to jump out of shoreline, handler draped towel over dog and picked up, carried to M&G room, placed on ground, dog shook off, walked loose leash to yard. In yard dog had neutral body and still tail at spine level, dog would wander, urinate and defecate a few times, would not approach handler when called, sniffing at gate, as handler walked across yard dog would run back and forth between fence and gate on other side, somewhat bouncy gait, still did not approach handler as they walked nearby, handler sat and offered treats, dog would come up an arms length away from handler, stoic gaze, did not know "sit," sniffed treats tossed nearby then lost interest and wandered away. Dog spent a few minutes exploring yard, then started to get fixated on gate, jumping up and pawing at it more intensely, handler approached and dog stopped, soft body, allowed handler to pick up leash, handler draped towel over dog and carried to room, petting dog while holding him, dog had tightly closed mouth and tense face, once on the ground dog ignored handler, went to door, jumping up, pacing and pawing at doorway. Handler approached and pet dog, dog did not react or engage, looking straight out window, would dart away as handler tried to place towel over dog, able to cover and pick up,carried back to kennel, removed leash by hand and placed dog inside, dog barked once as handler closed door, no further reaction, stood neutral at front of kennel.

9/12/2026 Handler approached kennel front; Dog was standing with neutral body and tail aligned; low growling; Handler unlocked door and held leash in opening; handler stuck arm in and was able to place leash over head with no issues; was able to secure leash; Handler pet dog gently and dog allowed; relaxed before picking up dog and carrying to yard; dog allowed stayed in handlers arms; Once in yard dog was immediately urinating and defecated; Dog was walking yard exploring; Dog was more independent calm demeanor; Handler would call over and dog would come over and greet with no issues; tail wagging; Handler walked over to exit and dog followed; allowed leahs adjustment and walekd to kennel; interested in dog in bottom kennel; handler picked up and set in kennel with no issues; Handler unleashed leash by hand; the second handler started closing door; dog began to growl again and tense up; alarm barking at door; not making contact with handlers hands but toward direction; handler was able to close door with caution watching dog;

9/10/2026 Owner walked k9 into intake room, once in room k9 was stiff and avoidant. Allowed handlers to pick up and carry to kennel as well as place mylar easily. Carried to kennel and unleashed by hand

9/5/2026 Easy to pull and return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Appears potty trained

9/3/2026 Handler approached kennel front, dog alarm barked initially and settled after treat was offered. Handler went to retrieve towel for carrying and returned. Handler opened gate and placed leash over head without issue. Handler then draped towel over, handler did not want to snag any matting on underbelly. Dog was wrapped in towel and carried to M&G room. Handler placed dog in room, dog was loose and wiggly. Dog barked at reflection in glass a few times and then settled. Dog was loose and affiliative with handler, soliciting and allowing pets. Handler tried best to avoid matting. After about 10 minutes handler was able to walk dog back to kennel. Handler then lifted dog and placed in kennel and removed leash by hand.

8/30/2026 Timid of fast movements, did not accept treats, did allow handling and light restraint for vaccines. Carried to kennel and unleashed by hand.
